The wahaika is one of the most revered forms of Māori patu — a short-handled weapon distinguished by its graceful curved form and characteristic notched side. Traditionally carried by rangatira (chiefs) and warriors of mana, the wahaika was both a weapon and a symbol of authority, identity, and whakapapa.

This handcrafted wahaika is carved from wood (rākau) and presented with a display base and adorned with awe — the striking black feathers that signal its ceremonial significance.
