Urua ki te rā

Image sources: Matua A.I

This karakia is for the start of the day as the sun rises, however, consider it also metaphorically as the transition from te pō ki te ao marama. From not knowing to knowing. The transference and awakening of the light of knowledge entering into a once dark and cold place of potential. Takarangi, Ahi kōmau or the seperation of Rangi & Papa.

Māori
Urua urua ki te rā
Wera wera ki te rā
Ko te ata ka ihia, ko te ata ka hōpara

Ko te ata ka pakaru
Ko te ata ka tū!
Reremai te ihiihi
Reremai te wanawana
Reremai tamanui o waho
Reremai tamanui te rā
Whano, whano
Haramai te mahana
Haumi ē! Hui ē! Tāiki ē!

English (Interpretation by TK Stewart)
The anticipation and the expanding heat of light that enters,
...the trembling dawn breaking the chest of the world,
The breaking dawn stands and pierces!
The penetrating brilliance of radiant needles,
The impatient Sun that appears, the Sun in his glory,
Bring to this point, here and now the warmth,
Joining to all, it's agreed.
